The key to a project is a team. A team is the one who keeps the project going. Without good communication and passionate teamwork, the developing project will be screwed. Therefore, we need team dynamics.

What is team dynamics?

Team dynamics are the direction of a team’s behavior and performance. Dynamics are affected by roles and responsibilities and have a direct result on productivity. When team members engage in work projects, their behaviors are interdependent. Then, from their interactions with each member, there is a team emergence of attitudes, motivation, and cognition that influence how team members feel about each other, team, and projects.

Motivate and build team dynamics

Here are a few points of the motivation and build team dynamics in my team:
Meet the Team and Communication
Meetings with the team can create a good atmosphere for getting to know each other better among each team member. In the meeting, provide space for each team member to ask questions and voice their opinions. This is very important to avoid miscommunication.
Incidentally, since we are currently still in the COVID-19 pandemic, face-to-face team meetings are difficult to hold. Therefore, we take advantage of technological developments through video calling media such as gmeet. There, we usually discuss a lot about how to implement a feature and the difficulties we experienced during the work. The existence of this communication helped us to get closer and understand each other. Therefore, there was a sense of comfort in the group.

Raising Problems Early
By sharing problems with other members, we become more courageous to open up. Openness between members is very important so that all members of the team are in the same state. It makes strengthen the belief that the team works as a unit were working together as a team becomes a priority.
In my team when having problems, we will report that as soon as possible to the team. Thus, these difficulties can resolve together and do not become blockers for us in developing products

Team Slogan

Team work makes the dream work

That slogan gives us a sense of belonging to the team and makes us want to deliver the best for the team.

Team Capacity Building

Everyone has their abilities. These differences are expected to complement each other by sharing knowledge. The existence of a knowledge-sharing process can help each member to further build their respective capacities.

Here are a few points of the things we do and get of team capacity building:

Learn new things together
An example is when our team studied React js which were not previously taught in lectures. At first, our team found it difficult and needed more time in developing the frontend because almost all team members were not used to using React. Therefore, we are not pressing each other but together surely learning the React js.

The Knowledge of how industrial technology works.
In addition, during the project, we gain knowledge of how the industrial world works. The knowledge we get is from interaction with things in developing the software itself. Agile methods that are applied in teams are also methods that are often used in developing software in the real world. In addition, we also learn and adapt with clients to maintain professionalism.

Servant Leader

According to Robert Greenleaf, in his book entitled “The Servant as Leader”, servant leadership comes from someone who has a desire to help then is aware of leading by placing the needs of members as a priority, respecting and appreciating each individual’s importance, and helping others in achieving a common goal. In essence, a servant leader is a leader who has a desire to serve.

In its implementation in the project, I also felt the figure of a servant leader through the presence of the Scrum Master, namely Mikhael. As a servant leader, Mikhael, as our Scrum Master, always tries to serve us by listening to our difficulties, helping to overcome our difficulties by giving advice, always supporting us, and also giving appreciation.
