Every human is unique. Humans are amazing creatures with extraordinary abilities. Our tastes may be the same, but also be different. Because of that differences, we can develop many things, but we also can misunderstand. So, that’s why we must be good at dealing with other people (people person).

Why do we need to understand other people?

Humans are social creatures whose lives are dependent on one another. Therefore, the programming world also requires interaction between humans. Programming is teamwork. It involves working with other people and building something together. That’s why we also need to have a great relationship with other people.

In the PPL course, I feel happy because our team is supportive. That means we all try our best to become people who support, help, and understand each other between team members.

What makes our team is a good teammate?

  1. Effective communication
Communication is one of key to good at dealing with other people . It is a way for us to know each other more, so that we can be more mindful towards each other. Then, we are also needed to communicate effectively. There following are the tips:
    - Convey any information specifically and clearly
    - Asking questions that are relevant to the topic being discussed
    - Control emotions
    - Provide feedback to make each other better
    - Active listening
  2. Be professional and don’t be toxic people.
Since we are in a working and or studying environment, we need to make sure that we are professional in the team. Don’t be a person who toxic around people. An example is a person who seems unable to work without the help of others. The type of that people usually asks all his/her problems to be solved by someone else. This kind of person is a high-maintenance person who can be very emotionally draining to people around. Of course, that’s not a good thing. On the other side, we need to be people who ask for help only if needed, appreciate every support we have received, and be responsible for our portion of the work.
  3. Be empathetic
Yes, some people have their line of work and assignments, but we must be aware that we are a part of the team. We know that sometimes there are situations where bad things happen. If we can position ourselves as a part of the team, we have to be empathetic towards each other and help each other out.
  4. Be respectful
We need to respect others. Respect each other’s personal and life boundaries. It would be very nice to avoid any miscommunication and fighting because we cannot understand other people. For example, we do not try to respect the busy work of others outside of our teamwork.
  5. Learn how to say small things like thank you and sorry.
When we receive help, don’t forget to thank the person who helped. Appreciate the efforts of others to help us and tell what specifics make us feel helped. Then, when we make mistakes and hurt someone else, we must have to be sorry, determined not to repeat it, and apologize. Simple words like that make people feel more appreciated and included.

In my team, we are trying our best to support each other. Since we have been together from early semesters, we know what bothers off each other. Therefore, whenever someone is having a hard time or cannot do something, we help each other out. The result of it is good dynamics. It is due to everyone’s good people management skill that is mindful and respectful but also fun.

Because of that, it is easy for us to communicate our weaknesses and advantages, making the workload easier to split. It would be great to work in an environment like this because whenever I feel stressed, Our team makes me more motivated to complete projects. After all, that’s all a good work environment.
